Specially designed for sailing racing, the Yachtingraf Croisière is a unique model instantly recognizable for its brightly coloured asymmetrical sub-dials inspired by the legendary 1960s chronograph of the same name. This new, more refined interpretation features a sleek 38.5mm steel case with braided lyre lugs and is equipped with the VK63 tricompax calibre.
Inspired by vintage design, the Yachtingraf Croisière has personality thanks to its oversized ‘big-eye’ sub-dial. A rare detail in chronographs, the emphasis on the minute counter greatly changes the dynamics of the watch, making it stand out from other chronographs. Designed specifically for one purpose, it acts as a countdown to the start of a sailing race, helping helmsmen get the best position, reaching the starting line at full speed, just when the starting signal sounds.
The dial is the star of the show, blending vibrant colours with YEMA’s signature neo-vintage touch. The dial is composed of a matte main surface with raised brushed steel markers and polished finish that elegantly match the brushed steel hour and minute hands. Along the edge of the dial is a chronograph minutes/seconds indicator in a contrasting colour.
The colourful subdisks are where the magic happens: at nine there is the oversized minute regatta countdown, at six there is the chronograph second counter, and at three there is the 24-hour counter represented as an inverted Swiss cross. The 38.5mm 316L stainless steel case is slim (10.3mm thickness) and stylish. In the absence of an external bezel, it offers a wide opening of the dial ensuring perfect readability.
The chronograph buttons naturally fit into the case. The ‘twisted’ lugs, also known as blunt lyre lugs, invented by the renowned watch designer Genta, with their polished brushed finishes, ensure a play of different textures that lends relief and personality to this model. And the caseback features YEMA’s historic crest, embossed with a hydraulic press and finished polished and brushed.
The basic functions of the VK64 hybrid movement are powered by a quartz caliper, while the chronograph function is controlled by a mechanical module, which results in a smooth movement of the seconds counter. The Yachtingraf steel bracelet is made of Milanese mesh for flexibility and refinement. The closure is engraved with the historic YEMA logo and is quickly and very easily adjusted. The hands are coated with a layer of Super-LumiNova BGW9, thus ensuring perfect readability in the dark.
